Flair Quick Start

Updated: March 11, 2020

Looking for instructions for how to install the Flair in your Shopify theme?

Well you’ve come to the right place.

Note: This is a one-time process for each new theme. After the setup is complete you can manage your badges from within the Flair settings.

Why Flair doesn’t automatically install itself

You may be wondering why this install step is necessary in the first place.

You see, many apps attempt to automatically install themselves. But if you read the 1 star reviews of those apps many of them are the result of an auto-install gone bad.

That’s because themes are very complex and other people and apps might move things around at any time. For this reason, we use an approach that is guaranteed to work 100% of the time without breaking your theme.

Before you get started…

Make sure you’ve created at least one Flair badge and banner so you have something to work with.

Note: Flair only updates the currently published theme in your shop. If you want to work on a copy of your theme, first create a test badge and banner, and then make a theme copy.

Editing your theme in the Shopify Theme Editor

You can edit your theme files using Shopify’s built-in theme editor.

To access the editor from your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

Find the theme you want to edit and click Actions, then click Edit code.
